Hancock Market Under New Ownership

Nancy and Ed Adams have sold the Hancock Market on Main Street to Jarvis and Marcia Coffin, owners of the Hancock Inn located across the street from the store, according to New Hampshire Business Sales, which coordinated the transfer.

The Coffin’s stated intention in buying the Market is to continue to build on the great business base that the Adams’ have built up over the last five years since they bought the building at auction, rehabilitated it and regenerated a thriving local marketplace.

Broker Leon M. Parker, CBI represented Nancy and Ed and assisted the Coffin’s in the transaction. Financing was arranged by Paul Faber of Lake Sunapee Bank. “This is a true country store of the kind that used to dot the landscape,” Parker said. “It is great to see it continue through a change in ownership.”

New Hampshire Business Sales, based in Pembroke, has completed its 40th year as the state’s premier business brokerage firm. The company has assisted owners of privately held NH businesses in valuing, marketing and selling their businesses since 1976.
