Originally built as the Red Hill Restaurant in the 1930’s by Harry Richardson, it reportedly became Benson’s Steak House in the 1960’s, before eventually becoming a residence and a Celtic Retail Shop in the mid-seventies under the ownership of Tom & Betty Brown. The business has passed into history, while the property was recently purchased by the Roundabout Now, LLC, of Moultonborough.Plans are underway for the renovation and rehabilitation of the building, retaining its unique architectural style and features, with two residential apartments on the 2nd floor and leased commercial space(s) on the 1st floor. The work will begin soon in anticipation of providing opportunities for new businesses to take advantage of the visible location on a highly traveled highway.Mike LaPierre, an Associate with New Hampshire Business Sales, Inc., brokered the sale of the property and is coordinating leasing activities. Any leasing inquiries should be directed to Mike at 603-279-5561. NEW OWNERS AT LANDMARK SQUAM LAKE AREA ICE CREAM SHOPMay 8th, 2009by Melanie The Scothornes of Holderness have purchased the landmark Riverside Dairy Joy on Routes 3/25 in Another interesting saleJanuary 5th, 2008by Leon Once in awhile we get to put together two businesses for a resulting much stronger operation. We recently brokered the sale of the Independent Color Press, on Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, NH, by Ernie and Marge Carter to Jim Graves and Marlene Crowder of Rochester Printing, LLC, in Rochester, NH. Ernie and Marge have been providing quality commercial printing to customers from the Mt. Washington Valley to the Lakes Region and southern NH for many years. Jim and Marlene, who also own TKO Printing in Rochester, are looking forward to providing the same great service to the customers of ICP that the Carter’s did. Now with two locations, they can build upon their customer bases and expand their coverage. The sellers were represented by our Associates Stan Evans and Richard Corbyn. CIT Small Business Lending, represented by Beth Cleary, provided the financing and Attorney Stephen Hyde of Portsmouth handled the closing. During a combination like this our Associates have to be very careful about managing confidential information. However this kind of transaction frequently represents the best opportunity sellers have to make a deal, and often results in higher sales prices, because of the increased value of a business to a strategic buyer. Landmark Keene Deli SoldNovember 28th, 2007by Melanie The Park Avenue Deli & Market has been in business at 30 Park Avenue in Keene for many years, formerly as Pare’s Market, and then for many years as McLay’s Market. The Cagneys used to buy sandwiches at the market years ago when they lived in the area. They will be continuing the business with the same departments and staff, and look forward to renewing their connections with the area and providing excellent service and value to the residents and businesses in the area. In addition to the normal range of convenience store items, the market does a robust meat and deli business, and provides catered lunch items for businesses and parties in the area.
Popeye’s Variety SoldNovember 28th, 2007by Melanie We recently brokered the sale of Popeye’s Variety Store in Conway from Bruce Frechette to Bryan Dries and Edward Kugler. Other than one other owner, this popular, local convenience store with gas, has been in the Frechette family for many years. For the last five years, Bruce Frechette has carried on the family connection to this store serving the local population as well as the heavy tourist traffic that brings in business.
The new owners, Bryan Dries and Ed Kugler look forward to providing the same level of service that customers have come to expect in what will now be called Conway Variety.
